Declaración Binacom
Nuestra humanidad se adquiere, sin lugar a dudas, gracias a los procesos de interacción con el entorno y, especialmente, con el intercambio que establecemos con otros individuos. Esa necesidad de relacionarnos a través de la cultura material y simbólica, es lo que ha empujado a la creación de puentes de diverso tamaño y trascendencia a lo largo de la historia. Desde aquellos primeros pasos que dieron lugar a la construcción de grandes civilizaciones, el hombre ha sido y sigue siendo un nómada incansable. Por ende, nuestras culturas son nómadas. Ahora mismo vean a su alrededor, los rostros, los idiomas pueden parecer distintos pero en esta región hay un espíritu que nos hermana… esa necesidad de establecer una comunicación que nos permita seguir viajando juntos en la construcción de una sociedad libre de prejuicios, libre de murallas físicas o simbólicas, materiales o ideológicas.
Hace apenas dos días atrás nuestra comprensión de este mundo diverso, complejo y multicultural tal vez era distinta. Nuestras profesiones, aficiones y sueños nos han unido de alguna manera y ha sido posible gracias a la comunicación, ese puente necesario e imprescindible para trascender como humanidad, para liberarnos los complejos y los estereotipos que son producto del desconocimiento del otro, del miedo a caminar juntos. Estoy seguro, esta experiencia nos ha hecho más capaces de visualizar cómo nuestras sociedades pueden enlazar proyectos y seguir en el camino del intercambio abierto, libre y constructivo.
Este evento es muestra de los lazos que solo se pueden crear en la multiculturalidad y la diversidad, en el acto de ir de un lugar a otro, esa parte nómada que está inscrita en nuestra genética. Ese intercambio constante e imperceptible pero que está ahí indudablemente, en cada acto que realizamos, en nuestras costumbres, hasta en el gesto cotidiano de navegar en mares digitales, todos son producto de una cultura híbrida, nacida en el ir y venir de las personas que nos han precedido, en el ir y venir de nosotros mismos, el que nos ha otorgado el placer de compartir lo mejor de cada uno de nuestros pueblos, de nuestros hallazgos profesionales y académicos, que nos ha permitido incluso compartir más de nosotros mismos.
John F. Kennedy acuñó una frase que ha cobrado especial relevancia en los últimos tiempos, en esta época contrariada y cambiante que ha marcado esta relación estrecha entre México y Estados Unidos: “La geografía nos ha hecho vecinos. La historia nos ha hecho amigos. La economía nos ha hecho socios y la necesidad nos ha hecho aliados. Aquellos a quienes dios ha unido tan juntos, que ningún hombre los separe.”
Hoy tengo un deseo que espero compartamos todos los que estamos aquí presentes: que estos puentes que se han construido durante tantos años de relación académica e incluso de amistad personal, se mantengan, porque en nuestras manos está la más grande tarea, hacer que las políticas, el miedo o el rencor no los destruyan, sino que el tiempo los fortalezca.

President’s Statement
Our humanity is acquired, without a doubt, thanks to the processes of interaction with the environment and, especially, with the exchange we establish with other individuals. That need to relate through material and symbolic culture, is what has pushed the creation of bridges of different sizes and transcendence throughout history. Man has been and continues to be a tireless nomad. Therefore, our cultures are nomadic. Right now look at their roundness, faces, languages can be differentiated, but also in this region, there is a spirit that that makes us the same family… that is the need to establish a communication that allows us to continue traveling together in the construction of a society free of prejudices, free of physical or symbolic, material or ideological walls.
Just two days ago. This is the difference of this diverse, complex and multicultural world. Our professions, hobbies and dreams have been a possible way thanks to communication, the necessary and indispensable bridge to transcend humanity, to release the complexes and stereotypes that are the product of ignorance of the other, of fear of walking together I am sure, this experience has made us more to visualize how our societies can link projects and continue on the path of open, free and constructive exchange.
This event is a sample of the ties that can only be created in multiculturalism and diversity, in the act of a place in the other, that is the part that is inscribed in our genetics. That constant and imperceptible exchange but that is undoubtedly there, in every act we perform, in our customs, even in the daily gesture of navigating in digital seas, all are the product of a hybrid culture, born in the coming and going of people who they have preceded us, in the coming and going of ourselves, that has been granted us the pleasure of sharing the best of each of our peoples, our professionals and academics, which has allowed us to share with ourselves.
John F. Kennedy said a phrase that has become especially relevant in recent times, in this disconcerted and changing time that has marked this close relationship between Mexico and the United States: “Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. The economy has made us partners and the need has made us allies. Those whom God has united so close together, that no man should separate them”.
Today I have a desire that I hope all of us here present will share: that these bridges that have been built during so many years of academic relationship and even of personal friendship, are maintained, because in our hands is the greatest task, to make the policies , fear or resentment do not destroy them, but time strengthens them.
