ENCUENTRO 2018 REMEMBERED
BINACOM’s Biennial Encounter was held at the School of Human Sciences at UABC Mexicali on April 27-28 2018. The theme of the conference was “Multidimensional Bridges: Communication, Interchange and Interaction in a Walled World.” Below is a brief article that captures the essence of the event by Armando Gutiérrez Ortega, 2019 BINACOM President.
Memorias de un Encuentro
A casi un año de celebrar nuestra conferencia bienal traemos a la memoria los momentos que hicieron de nuestras coincidencias una celebración. Como ocurre en cada nuevo evento, el Encuentro Binacional de Escuelas de Comunicación nos dio la oportunidad de compartir la forma en que se produce y reflexiona sobre la comunicación en una comunidad que trasciende la frontera México-Estados Unidos.
Descubrir en el otro una parte de nosotros mismos, encontrar elementos de coincidencia, darnos cuenta que la interacción no depende de límites territoriales sino de necesidades sociales y vínculos transculturales que superan y diluyen las condiciones de la coyuntura política.
Gracias a quienes fueron parte de este Encuentro; estudiantes, profesores, investigadores y profesionistas del campo de la comunicación mediática (fotografía, audio, video, periodismo), las Redes Sociales, la comunicación organizacional, la edu-comunicación y comunicación para la salud, porque son ustedes quienes que cada nuevo evento sea una experiencia inolvidable.

Memories of a Meeting
Almost a year after celebrating our biennial conference, we recall the moments that made our coincidences a celebration. As in every new event, the Binational Meeting of Communication Schools gave us the opportunity to share the way it is produced and reflects on communication in a community that transcends the US-Mexico border.
To discover in the other a part of ourselves, to find elements of coincidence, to realize that the interaction does not depend on territorial limits but on social needs and transcultural links that overcome and dilute the conditions of the political conjuncture.
Thanks to those who were part of this Meeting; students, professors, researchers and professionals in the field of media communication (photography, audio, video, journalism), social networks, organizational communication, education-communication and communication for health, because you’re the ones who make every new event an unforgettable experience.
