The Binational Association is an Institutional Affiliate Member of International Communication Association (ICA), and organizes a panel each year for the annual meeting. Our organization works to increase Mexican participation in ICA and exchange between U.S. and Mexican communication scholars, to increase participation specifically from scholars in the border region and give them greater exposure to a global scholarly community, and to feature the distinctive perspectives on communication that have been developed in the border region.
This year’s 2018 panel includes research on representations of Trump’s proposed border wall in both the U.S. and Mexico, on citizen movements related to the politics of water in Mexicali, Baja California, and on the concept of appropriation in Latin American communication studies.
